Arduino SDR/Walkabout
This is a software defined radio, SDR, controlled by the Arduino. The project primarily started out as a computer controlled frequency source and then I went on to see if I could cram everything necessary onto an Arduino shield. The project is partially finished and requires a DSP as the next stage. What I will be showing is half on the Arduino and half using the GNU RADIO SDR kit. The plan moving forward is to use a MSP430 as the DSP engine, but it remains to be seen if that is powerful enough.

DIY audio
I have built a collection of self-designed audio devices including a 150 liter subwoofer with a 250W amplifier as well as a 50W mono chip amplifier. The demonstration will demonstrate how simple designing and building your own audio equipment can be.

Learn to Solder
AS220 Labs is offering introductory soldering workshops and electronic kits available for purchase and building at the Faire. Build the Drawdio Kit, an electronic kit that turns any pencil into a noise-making synthesizer! Construction time is about an hour or less depending on your soldering skills, but builders will be able to instantly enjoy their hard work and play quite sweet electronic music with it. The kit is available for $20, and will include everything needed to make it work. We will also support and help people with other electronic kits that they bring to our table, including the Learn to Solder LED badges for sale at the Mini Maker Shed.

The Rascal
The Rascal is a small computer aimed at artists and scientists who want to add web interfaces to their projects. It connects to Arduino shields, but it's powerful enough to handle real web traffic. I built an open-source web interface for the Rascal that you can modify to fit your own projects.

You Can Be a Siege Engineer
Build your own medieval catapult, and support a technology museum. Teams sought for the Charles River Museum of Industry spring fund raising event. A one day event where your companies' team will build a large scale traction trebuchet, and then compete to see which team's machine can throw the farthest. Win valuable bragging rights, help a local museum recover from a serious flooding event, and take home a machine that will be great fun at a summer picnic, or prove useful for repelling hostile takeover attempts.
