One Response to The RI Mini Maker Faire is back on August 13, 2016!

  1. I notice it says that there are still spots open to exhibit as a maker.

I love to fold paper plates into geometric shapes and sculptures, inspired and instructed by the sculptural/geometric work of Bradford Hansen-Smith. For example, with just paper plates and sometimes bobby pins and without using scissors, you can create a ball, a tetrahedron, an octahedron, a variation on an icosahedron, and many more complex shapes based on folded modules. I am fascinated by this because I’d spent so much time painstakingly measuring and creating nets and cutting them out to create shapes, only to find that I can create the same shapes from a circle without any measuring or cutting–WOW.

I would love to lead a booth or workshop type thing where folks could come and learn how to create some basic shapes (and more advanced for those who are into it) by folding paper plates.

Is this the sort of thing that would fit in at the mini Maker Faire?
